Well, it might have passed review, but the proof did not pass MY review. There’s some screw-ups that must be fixed before it can be printed on a large scale. This might push back the release date a week or so, but I wont officially change the date until I know for sure.
The tirlwe says it all. The review team passed my uploaded book and cover files. The next step is to proof the book. I’ve ordered a print copy so I can see it live and in the flesh.
Technically I could list it for sale right now, this second, but obviously I want to proof it first so it’ll be another week to ten days probably. Think I’ll make a release date of April 5th. Thats Pagan’s birthday, so seems auspicious.
Wish me luck everyone!!!!
It was more frustrating and difficult formatting these than doing the entire book. For those who dont know, these are the few pages at the front of any book before the actual story starts. They must be there and yet…what a PITA if they haven’t been done first.
I will never make that mistake again, believe me.
Its really very exciting. I finished designing the cover for the book this afternoon.
And I bought and received my ISBN today as well. For those that dont know what that is, it’s an international number all books are assigned to keep track of them in bookstores etc… Its that barcode and number you see on the bottom of the back cover of all books.
Well, I got mine today which means this is a real book now! Woot! Or at least it feels like it to me.
Anyhoo, here is the cover…
My Phantom is way too hot. My latest illustration of him he looks like a Calvin Klein model with a mask. Dangit!!!
I wanted him magnetic, attractive, but not hot…
I”ve finished four of the half dozen illustrations I have planned. I”ve also done a sketch of a typical quartrefoil that I will use at every Chapter beginning.
The last two sketches should be done this week, but I’m having a bit of artists block at the moment about them. I think now that I’m down to the last two I have so many images from the novella that could be used, that I cant decide which ones SHOULD be used. To date all the illustrations have been of my two main characters, either together or individually, and part of me wonders if I should do one or two of some of the other minor characters, or just keep doing Sophie and Eric since I kinda suspect that’s who everyone really wants to see anyway. (And frankly, I’m most interested in doing Sophie since she’s my main character and the one I feel closest to.)
I’ll figure it out eventually, but meanwhile thought I’d share one of the illustrations here for you to view…
This is Sophie as she’s going home aftter a visit to the Opera House and she is trying very hard to avoid being seen by someone who has been following her.
I’m so pleased to be able to show you the finished artwork for the cover.
Now I have to figure out how to actually turn it into a book cover!!! I can do this…
